Tesla Korea Launches Electric Pickup 'Cybertruck'... Priced in the Mid-100 Million Won Range

Tesla Korea is officially launching its electric pickup truck, the Cybertruck, in South Korea. With the rear-wheel-drive Model Y gaining popularity in the domestic market, Tesla aims to expand its market share in Korea by diversifying its product lineup.

According to industry sources on August 27, Tesla Korea will introduce two trims to the Korean market: the all-wheel-drive (AWD) model and the Cyberbeast. Tesla is bringing the Cybertruck to Korea about a year and a half after its debut in the United States.

The estimated driving range is 520 kilometers for the AWD model and 496 kilometers for the Cyberbeast. As government certification is still underway, actual figures may vary.

Despite weighing 3.9 tons, the Cyberbeast trim is equipped with a tri-motor system, enabling it to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just about 2.7 seconds. Its top speed is 209 km/h. The AWD trim features a dual-motor system and has a top speed of 180 km/h.

For the first time in a Tesla vehicle, the V2L (vehicle-to-load) function has been implemented, allowing external power supply. The adaptive air suspension adjusts damping in milliseconds (one-thousandth of a second) to provide a comfortable ride.

The Cybertruck features ultra-high-strength reinforced glass, a towing capacity approaching 5 tons, and a cargo space exceeding 3,400 liters. The "steer-by-wire" system enables sufficient turning radius and agile handling with steering input of less than 340 degrees.

The domestic price for the Cybertruck is set at 145 million won for the AWD model and 160 million won for the Cyberbeast. Priority purchase will be available to reservation holders from August 29 to September 4. From September 5, general customers can also place orders.

Tesla Korea stated, "Since its first unveiling in 2019, the Cybertruck has recorded a high pre-order rate in Korea and has been anticipated not just as a pickup truck, but as a premium leisure EV. The first deliveries are expected after the end of November."
