Actual Loss Coverage for Overseas Flight Delays or Cancellations
of Two Hours or More
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance announced on August 27 that it has launched a special rider providing actual loss coverage for overseas flight delays or cancellations of two hours or more.
The "Overseas 2-Hour Flight Delay Rider" covers actual losses of up to 500,000 won in the event of a flight delay or cancellation of two hours or more on flights arriving at domestic airports from overseas airports, as well as on all flights departing from overseas airports (including connecting and transfer flights).
If a flight is delayed while overseas, the rider covers expenses incurred while waiting for the delayed flight, including food and beverage costs, accommodation fees, and other convenience facility expenses.
With the launch of this new "Overseas 2-Hour Flight Delay Rider," in addition to the "Outbound Flight Delay/Cancellation Compensation (Index-Type) Rider" introduced in January, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance's overseas travel insurance is now the first in the industry to provide coverage for flight delays of two hours or more at all domestic and international airports.
If customers traveling abroad subscribe to all of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance’s flight delay-related riders, they can receive immediate fixed compensation of up to 100,000 won for domestic outbound flight delays. For overseas outbound flight delays, they can be reimbursed for actual expenses up to 500,000 won, even if significant costs such as accommodation are incurred.
A representative from Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance stated, "Sudden flight delays, even for a short period, can cause significant inconvenience for customers," adding, "With Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance's overseas travel insurance, which provides coverage for flight delays of two hours or more anywhere, whether domestically or internationally, we can help ensure our customers have an enjoyable trip."
