A Vietnamese national woman who stabbed a convenience store employee with a weapon and fled has been apprehended in Geochang, South Gyeongsang Province.
The Geochang Police Station announced on August 26 that they have arrested a woman in her 30s, identified as A, on suspicion of attempted murder and are currently investigating her.
According to the police, at around 6:19 p.m. the previous day, A is suspected of stabbing a female convenience store employee in her 20s, identified as B, multiple times with a weapon at a convenience store in Geochang County before fleeing the scene.
After receiving a report from a passerby, the police tracked A down and apprehended her at around 11:35 p.m. that day near a riverside area located 2 to 3 kilometers from the scene.
B sustained injuries to her arm and face and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
It has been determined that A had ongoing financial disputes with the convenience store owner.
The police are investigating A and others to determine the exact motive and circumstances of the crime and plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A soon.
