On August 25, the city of Gwangju held a final briefing session at the Kim Daejung Convention Center to comprehensively review the preparation status across all areas for the successful hosting of the '2025 World Archery Federation Congress (WA)'.
The briefing, presided over by Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy Kim Youngmoon, was attended by 16 representatives from eight related organizations and companies, including the Gwangju City Government, Gwangju Tourism Organization, Gwangju Municipal Changgeuk Company, Honam University, Gwangju Volunteer Center, Ramada Plaza Hotel, Holiday Inn Hotel, and Kumho Express.
The World Archery Federation Congress will be held from September 1 to 3 at the Kim Daejung Convention Center, with delegations of about 200 representatives from 105 associations participating. During the congress, they are scheduled to discuss key agendas such as qualification regulations for archers and team officials, election of board members, referee organization procedures, and the proposal of laws regarding ethics and codes of conduct.
To ensure the successful hosting of the congress, the city has established thorough operational plans in five key areas: venue, accommodation, transportation, cultural performances, and volunteer support. The Kim Daejung Convention Center will serve as the main congress venue, with separate spaces designated for the WA board of directors, workshops, and luncheons according to detailed zoning. Participants will be accommodated at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Holiday Inn Hotel, with differentiated floor assignments to address potential issues such as nationality disputes.
The transportation system for airport and city transfers, managed by Kumho Express, has also been finalized. Participants will receive guidance at a concierge desk set up at Incheon Airport and will use dedicated buses between Incheon and Gwangju according to flight schedules.
Welcoming and networking events, including luncheons, dinners, and cultural performances, will be major highlights of the congress schedule. The performances will feature traditional acts such as fan dance, Hallyangmu, Pangut, and Bukgu dance, prepared by the Gwangju Municipal Changgeuk Company.
On-site volunteers, organized mainly by Honam University and the Gwangju Volunteer Center, will support participant engagement and assist with meeting operations in various areas, including language support, registration guidance, and navigation of the venue.
Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy Kim Youngmoon stated, "Gwangju is a city where sports spirit and culture coexist, and this congress is an opportunity to demonstrate Gwangju's capabilities in hosting international events to the world. We will achieve a successful congress through organic cooperation with partner organizations."
Through this briefing session, the city of Gwangju completed the final review of the event flow within the venue and officially transitioned to the execution phase. The city plans to meticulously finalize all remaining details in the coming period to ensure flawless congress operations.
