Record for the Shortest Period Among Domestic Low-Cost Carriers
Eastar Jet announced on August 25 that it surpassed a cumulative total of 10 million passengers just 29 months after resuming operations following the COVID-19 pandemic. This record, achieved since the resumption of flights on March 26, 2023, marks the shortest period among domestic low-cost carriers.
Over the past 2 years and 5 months, Eastar Jet operated a total of 58,658 flights, including 34,342 domestic flights and 24,316 international flights. The record number of passengers was driven by aggressive aircraft acquisitions, flexible route management, expansion of the sales network, and strengthened sales promotions.
Despite the global aircraft supply shortage, Eastar Jet aggressively expanded its fleet, growing to 15 aircraft in about two and a half years. The company plans to introduce five additional planes by the end of this year, bringing the total number of aircraft to 20.
Currently, Eastar Jet operates 33 routes, not only to major popular destinations in Japan, Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia, but also to unique cities such as Almaty in Kazakhstan and Tokushima, a small city in Japan. Since the end of last year, the airline has also been expanding both domestic and international routes departing from Busan, continuing to diversify its route portfolio.
To commemorate surpassing 10 million cumulative passengers, Eastar Jet will launch a customer appreciation event starting today. Through the official website, those who participate in the passenger satisfaction survey will be entered into a draw, with a total of 1,000 winners receiving various prizes, including international flight tickets, domestic flight tickets, department store gift certificates, and dining vouchers.
An Eastar Jet representative stated, "Achieving 10 million cumulative passengers in just 29 months after resuming operations was made possible thanks to our customers," adding, "With a deep sense of responsibility, we will continue to strive to provide even safer and more convenient services in the future."
