The convenience store industry will begin selling Chuseok gift sets sequentially starting from August 26.
According to the retail industry on August 25, this year, convenience stores are expanding their selection of practical gift sets in the 30,000 won price range to reflect ongoing high inflation. They are also introducing high-end alcoholic beverages and gift sets featuring local specialties to meet the demand from consumers seeking unique gifts.
CU: 'Loconomy, Premium, Value-for-Money' as Key Themes... Over 690 Types Prepared
CU, operated by BGF Retail, will sell over 690 types of Chuseok gift sets across more than 40 categories starting September 1, under the key themes of "loconomy," "premium," and "practical" products.
CU has prepared around 60 local specialty products as Chuseok gifts this year. CU collaborated with six local restaurants to plan these gift sets. They are offering the "Mongtan" beef rib set (110,000 won), grilled beef set (60,000 won), and beef short rib set (45,000 won) from "Mongtan," a restaurant famous as one of Seoul's top three meat eateries, as well as Hanwoo tteokgalbi (60,000 won) and pork tteokgalbi (49,000 won) from "Songjeonggol," a renowned tteokgalbi restaurant in Gwangju.
CU is also targeting customers who want to conveniently purchase high-end premium gifts at convenience stores by partnering with "Minigold" to introduce over 10 types of gold items. CU will offer two types of gold bars featuring a lucky clover design: a 24K clover pure gold bar 1g (219,000 won) and 1.875g (399,000 won).
The most expensive Chuseok gift is the Glen Grant 65-year-old high-end whisky, priced at 75 million won. Reflecting the growing demand for alcoholic beverages as holiday gifts each year, CU is also offering over 140 types of premium wines and spirits, including Chateau Petrus 2009 (17 million won), Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2010, Chateau Latour 2011, Ballantine's 21-Year Special Edition, gold bar whisky packages, and Kubota Manju Tokkuri cup sets.
CU is also introducing practical items. The number of N+1 promotional items has increased by about 10% year-on-year, with around 250 types prepared. These include about 50 types of seasonings and canned foods, 30 types of daily necessities, and 20 types of seafood, all of which are in high demand during the holidays. For the first time this year, an N+3 promotional event will also be held. To enhance convenience for customers purchasing Chuseok gift sets in bulk for family and acquaintances, CU has established a dedicated order channel. Customers purchasing 10 or more sets can place orders online via Pocket CU or by scanning the QR code in the catalog.

GS Retail's convenience store GS25 will offer a total of over 650 types of holiday gift sets under the theme "2025 Our Neighborhood Gift Shop" starting from August 29. In response to persistent inflation and the trend toward simpler holiday celebrations, GS25 has strengthened its lineup of products mainly in the 30,000-100,000 won price range to reflect the growing trend of practical spending.
GS25 will run a 2+1 discount event on popular items, including the "LA Beef Rib Set" (128,000 won), which sold out all 20,000 units during last year's Chuseok, as well as the "Hanwoo and Pork Set" (128,000 won), "Dongwon Tuna Richam" (43,900 won), and "Johnsonville Premium Sausage Set" (65,000 won). Highly practical daily necessities such as shampoo, body wash, and treatments are also available at reasonable prices ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 won, enhancing value for money.
GS25 is also offering a diverse lineup of over 160 types of alcoholic beverages, including wine, sake, whisky, and baijiu, with gift sets starting in the 10,000 won range. Representative items include the "Le Vin Swing 2-Pack" (14,900 won), "Bestseller Chile 2-Pack Set" (19,900 won), and "Jack Daniel's 3-Pack Set" (39,400 won). Alcohol and glassware package sets suitable as gifts are also available, including the "Johnnie Walker Black On the Rocks Glass Set" (53,900 won) and "Junmai Tears of the Polar Bear Glass Set" (33,400 won).
GS25 is also running a "Chuseok Pre-Order Promotion" through the Our Neighborhood GS app. Popular products from GS25 and GS Shop, such as Hanwoo and pork sets, canned tuna, and health supplements, are available with discounts of up to 30%. In the first week, the Hanwoo and pork set will be offered at 99,000 won, a 23% discount from the regular price; in the second week, "Hanmandu" will be available at 35,000 won, a 30% discount; and in the third week, the popular GS Shop product "Bianalsin Diet Probiotics" will be sold at a 30% discount.
7-Eleven Competes with 'Practical' and 'Premium'... Over 550 Types of Gift Sets Available
7-Eleven will offer over 550 types of gift sets tailored to individual needs, including "premium" and "practical" sets, starting August 27.
First, 7-Eleven has prepared the "MD's 20 Recommended Products," carefully selected by product experts. These include two types of Idong beef ribs from Pocheon, a local specialty with a 60-year tradition (3kg for 88,000 won, 2kg for 66,000 won); galbitang (beef rib soup) from Samiheon, a leading Korean restaurant in Busan with a 25-year tradition (5kg for 70,000 won); Marble9 Hanwoo grilled beef set (2kg for 379,000 won); and Wando value abalone set (1kg for 55,000 won), among six categories of special products.
For customers seeking reasonable consumption, 7-Eleven is also offering 20 types of value-for-money "practical" products. The lineup includes processed and oil gift sets in the 30,000 won range featuring tuna, ham, and cooking oil; hair and body care products in the 50,000 won range; and Hanwoo brisket grill sets in the 80,000 won range, spanning seven categories of mid- to low-priced products.
7-Eleven, in collaboration with Lotte Mart and Lotte Super, will also offer four types of fruit and eight types of meat. For fruit gift sets, Lotte Mart and Lotte Super handle the entire process from selection to processing, packaging, and shipping. The meat products are from the Lotte Mart premium "Marble9" brand, which only handles grade 9 Hanwoo, the highest among 1++ Hanwoo grades. Chuseok gift sets sold at Lotte Mart and Lotte Super will be available at the same prices at nearby 7-Eleven stores.
7-Eleven has also prepared various discount benefits. SKT Universe Pass Life customers can receive up to 30% off, with a daily maximum discount of 9,000 won. Regular T Membership customers can receive discounts or reward points, and L.POINT holders can pay 100% of the price with points, effectively reducing the actual cost burden.
Emart24 Offers 238 Types of Gift Sets, from Mid-Range to Premium with High Value-for-Money
Emart24 will begin accepting reservations for Chuseok gift sets starting August 26. A total of 238 products will be offered, ranging from fresh foods such as meat and fruit to mid-range daily essentials and premium products tailored to the convenience store channel.
First, Emart24 has selected 24 of its best Chuseok gift sets, which can be purchased at up to 20% off with a promotional card until September 26. Best-selling items include "Premium King Apple and Pear Set" (promotional price: 76,000 won), "Samwon Garden LA Rib Set (2kg)" (promotional price: 80,000 won), as well as fresh foods like "CJ Spam 12K Set" (promotional price: 51,920 won) and "Jung Kwan Jang Vitality" (promotional price: 31,280 won).
Additionally, Emart24 has increased the number of gift sets in the 30,000 won and 100,000 won price ranges by approximately 41% and 50%, respectively, this year. This is based on last Chuseok's sales results, which showed that gift sets in these price ranges were the most popular. Practical, mid-range gift sets such as cosmetics, coffee, and nuts have been significantly expanded in the 30,000 won range, while high-value sets such as premium spirits and Marshall Bluetooth speakers have been greatly increased in the 100,000 won range compared to last Chuseok.
Emart24 will also launch holiday meal boxes and related promotions for customers spending the holidays alone, such as the "Honchujok" (solo Chuseok celebrants).
