"Is This a Crime Worth Dying For?" Jeon Cites Kim Hyekyung and Kim Jungsook
Kim Gunhee's Side: "Some of Shin Pyung's Claims Are Not True"
YouTuber Jeon Hangil, who has continued to oppose the impeachment of former President Yoon Sukyeol and claim election fraud, asserted that he received a direct visit request from First Lady Kim Gunhee.
On August 20, during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel, Jeon stated that he received a phone call from attorney Shin Pyung after Shin met with Kim Gunhee. According to Jeon, Shin relayed that Kim Gunhee had regularly watched "Jeon Hangil News" before her detention and expressed her gratitude to both Jeon and the supporters who raised their voices with him in public. Jeon also claimed that he received a message from Kim Gunhee asking him to "please visit at least once."
Jeon noted that he has been facing criticism such as "Don't defend Kim Gunhee" and "Isn't she a criminal?" but countered by saying, "I want to ask whether this is truly a crime serious enough to warrant such condemnation." He further argued, "If it is fair to hold Kim Gunhee accountable, then the same standard should be applied to the corporate card allegations involving Kim Hye-kyung and the controversies over public activities related to Kim Jung-sook."
YouTuber Jeon Hangil, who has continued to oppose the impeachment of former President Yoon Sukyeol and claim election fraud, claimed that he received a direct visit request from First Lady Kim Gunhee.
He added, "An investigation is necessary. If there are charges, of course, she should be investigated," but also questioned, "I don't understand why only Kim Gunhee is being subjected to such strict scrutiny. The corporate card allegations involving Kim Hye-kyung have already been published in a book," raising concerns about fairness.
Previously, attorney Shin Pyung also made public his meeting with Kim Gunhee, revealing that as soon as she entered the visitation room, she confided, "It seems that only if I die will a path open up for my husband." Shin also reported that Kim Gunhee expressed disappointment with former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon.
However, some of these statements were denied by Kim Gunhee's side. On August 21, her representatives issued a statement refuting Shin's claims, saying, "The remark about 'enjoying infinite glory if Han Donghoon had not betrayed us' was not made by Kim Gunhee," and asserting that Shin's account was also inconsistent with the facts.
Earlier, on August 8, Jeon caused a disturbance at a People Power Party speech event by chanting "traitor" at a party leader candidate who supported the impeachment of former President Yoon. The party's ethics committee subsequently issued Jeon a warning.
