On August 20, the YouTube production company Studio Handmade posted a notice, stating, "First and foremost, we sincerely apologize to our subscribers who trusted and supported 'Ttosaljip.'"
'Ttosaljip' is a segment within the 'Ttoganjip' content, where broadcaster Poongja introduces popular restaurants. Through this segment, the production company collaborates with various brands.
During the controversial promotion, a '1+1' deal was offered for TS Shampoo, allowing customers to purchase it at a discounted price. However, since the product was manufactured in October 2023 and had only a 14-month shelf life, criticism arose, with some accusing the company of simply trying to clear out old inventory.
Studio Handmade explained, "The products currently being sold have approximately 14 months of shelf life remaining, and after multiple reviews with the brand, we have confirmed that there are no issues with the product itself."
The company added, "Setting a maximum purchase quantity (10 sets) without fully considering customers' usage circumstances was an inappropriate sales approach, given the remaining shelf life. We deeply apologize for not accurately confirming the manufacturing date of the TS Shampoo with the brand."
Additionally, they stated, "To prevent a recurrence, 'Ttosaljip' will thoroughly inspect products to ensure that only those manufactured within one year of the sales start date will be sold. For this product, we will also refund the return shipping costs."
