On the 20th, while patrolling the Sillim Station area to prevent crimes involving personal relationships, the police noticed Mr. A suspiciously trying to leave in a hurry after discarding a cigarette butt and spotting the officers. Mr. A attempted to flee the scene, saying, "Let it go, I’ll give you money," but upon verifying his identity, the police confirmed that he was a wanted suspect with an arrest warrant issued for fraud charges.
Mr. A had been under investigation by prosecutors on charges of defrauding approximately 13 billion won from about 1,300 victims through a multi-level cryptocurrency scam between 2018 and 2019, but had been on the run since 2020.
