Selected as the Official Autonomous Vehicle Operator for APEC Summit
A2G to Showcase PV5-Based Level 4 Autonomous Vehicles in Gyeongju
Autonomous A2G announced on the 21st that it has signed a partnership with Kia for the supply of vehicles to manufacture Level 4 autonomous vehicles.
A2G will convert Kia's 'PV5' into a Level 4 autonomous vehicle. After obtaining government certification, the company plans to deploy these vehicles in domestic and international autonomous driving projects. The PV5-based Level 4 autonomous vehicles will be operated at the '2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit' to be held in Gyeongju this October.
A2G has been selected as the official autonomous vehicle operator for APEC and, from the end of August through the end of this year, will sequentially introduce 10 Level 4 autonomous vehicles of various models in the Gyeongju area, depending on road maintenance conditions. The lineup will include two PV5-based autonomous vehicles, as well as A2G's self-developed, driverless autonomous vehicle ROii and a modified bus. Through these operations, the company aims to showcase the competitiveness of Korean autonomous driving technology in the global market.
A2G has solidified its strategy of 'in-house solution development and external vehicle supply partnership,' which separates autonomous driving software design from hardware production, thereby establishing a stable vehicle production and supply system.
Han Ji-hyung, CEO of A2G, stated, "The commercialization of autonomous vehicles is shifting from competition among individual companies to strategic cooperation at the industry ecosystem level. I believe the collaboration between A2G and Kia is an excellent example of how to secure competitiveness in the global autonomous driving market and marks the starting point for K-autonomous driving. Beginning with the PV5-based autonomous vehicle, we plan to jointly enter global markets such as Singapore, the UAE, and Japan, where we are already pursuing business, and expand our collaboration across subsequent PBV models."
Kim Sangdae, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia's PBV Business Division, said, "Kia's PBV will provide an innovative business platform that combines solutions and future technologies, not just hardware. The collaboration with A2G will be one of many cases where Kia's PBV expands into external ecosystems to deliver new value to customers."
