The New Youth Village Launches in Daegu's Bukseongro Tool Alley, a Hub for Experimentation, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity

Daegu City will hold an opening event for "Protottown Bukseongro," which was selected as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 2025 Youth Village Creation Project, over two days on August 22 and 23.

The "Youth Village Creation Project" is a public offering initiative by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety aimed at revitalizing local communities by utilizing regional resources to support youth entrepreneurship and settlement, prevent the outflow of young people, and attract youth from outside the region. In April, Daegu was selected as one of the final 12 locations out of 147 local governments nationwide and is currently promoting the "Tool Village Creation Project" centered around the Bukseongro area in Jung-gu.

"Protottown" is a compound word combining "Prototype" and "Town," referring to a village where young people can directly experiment with ideas, create, and develop their own outcomes.

Bukseongro Tool Alley was once a hub of technology and creativity, so much so that people said, "They could even build a tank here." This project aims to leverage this historical asset to revitalize Bukseongro as a new creative stage that attracts young creators once again.

The opening event will feature a festival atmosphere where everyone can participate, including performances and networking programs organized by the youth team at the "Protottown Headquarters."

On the first day, August 22, there will be a celebratory performance by "Urban Wildlife Sanctuary HOOLA." The following day will feature a networking party for youth and local residents, a DJ performance, and themed talks. All programs are free of charge and open to all Daegu citizens.

Going forward, the Protottown Headquarters will serve as a multi-cultural space, operating as a hub for youth resident registration, program information, introductions to anchor organizations, exhibitions, and performances, facilitating natural communication between young people and the community.

In particular, with this opening, the "Protottown Youth Resident Registration" system will also be launched. Ninety registered youth residents will receive coupons worth 100,000 KRW, which can be used in the Bukseongro area.

Even after the event, a variety of programs will continue, including the "Base Exploration" experience across 12 locations and the "Guide Exploration" lecture series by senior residents.

Park Yunhee, Director of the Youth and Women’s Education Bureau of Daegu City, stated, "We hope that Bukseongro Protottown will become a youth village where young people can freely experiment and interact," adding, "We will continue our efforts to create an environment where young people can take root in the region and grow as members of the community."
