Business Agreement on Operating and Promoting Marine Healing Programs
On August 21, Wando County in South Jeolla Province announced that it had signed a business agreement with the International Lions Club District 355-B2 to promote the marine healing industry and ensure the successful hosting of the 2026 Pre Wando International Seaweed Expo.
The signing ceremony took place the previous day at Wando County Office, attended by County Governor Shin Woochul, District Governor Choi Kyungyun, and officials from both organizations. The agreement was established to strengthen the cooperative framework and promote joint development for the cultivation of the marine healing industry, a key local sector, and the successful hosting of the international event.

The main points of the agreement include cooperation in operating marine healing programs to promote the marine healing industry and enhance member welfare, ongoing exchange and collaboration for the development of the marine healing industry, and joint efforts to promote the 2026 Pre Wando International Seaweed Expo.
Governor Shin Woochul stated, "I would like to thank the members of the International Lions Club who quietly dedicate themselves to the community with a spirit of service and sharing. We will continue to strengthen cooperation in various fields and work together to realize the values of service and sharing."
District Governor Choi Kyungyun emphasized, "I hope that the marine healing industry, which Wando County is actively promoting, and the 2026 Pre Wando International Seaweed Expo will greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy and improving the quality of life for residents. The Lions Club will also stand as a strong partner for regional development."
Meanwhile, the 2026 Pre Wando International Seaweed Expo, under the theme "Climate Leaders: The Ocean Future Opened by Seaweed," will be held for six days from May 2 to 7, 2026, at Wando Beach Park and the Sinji Myeongsashimni area. The expo aims to establish a global network for Wando's seaweed industry and foster sustainable industrial growth.
