Mayor Jung Inhwa: "Resolving Citizen Inconveniences... Tangible Improvements in Daily Life"
On August 19, Gwangyang City, South Jeolla Province, held the second "On-site Communication Day" of the month, inspecting major project sites, visiting locations related to civil complaints, and seeking solutions together with citizens.
On this day, Mayor Jung Inhwa of Gwangyang visited the site of the Jungdong Neighborhood Park Barrier-Free Urban Forest Project, two candidate sites for the Iron Art Park, and the location in front of Okgyeong Solbatseom Island where safety measures for County Road No. 11 were under review.

The first agenda was a visit to the Jungdong Neighborhood Park Barrier-Free Urban Forest Project site at 1673 Jungdong, where he listened to residents' opinions on improving the pedestrian environment.
The city is promoting this project to eliminate inconveniences for pedestrians with disabilities and the elderly, and to create a safe and pleasant park through facility maintenance and efficient spatial arrangement.
After receiving a briefing on the project's progress and touring the site with residents, Mayor Jung instructed relevant departments to replace the exterior drainage grates of sports facilities with designer grating to enhance pedestrian safety, create a barefoot walking trail that does not harm tree growth while considering pedestrian flow, replace poorly growing trees, and install sitting wall benches.
Next, Mayor Jung visited candidate sites for the (tentatively named) Iron Art Park. The city is currently conducting a "Basic Plan for the Iron Art City Tourism Brand" to establish a differentiated tourism brand by combining iron and art, aiming to become a competitive tourism city.
This study, which began in July, includes plans for building a tourism brand and establishing the (tentatively named) Iron Art Park. On this day, two candidate sites in the eastern hinterland area were inspected as potential locations for the park.
The final agenda was a visit to the site in front of Okgyeong Solbatseom Island to review safety measures for County Road No. 11. This location has seen frequent accidents due to speeding and centerline violations, prompting requests for road alignment improvements and the installation of traffic safety facilities.
After listening to the concerns of local residents, Mayor Jung stated, "We have installed lane control posts to prevent illegal overtaking across the centerline and will also consider installing speed enforcement cameras to prevent speeding."
He added, "True administration means visiting sites in person, listening to citizens' voices, and finding solutions together. We will continue to pursue communication-focused administration that brings tangible changes to citizens' daily lives."
Meanwhile, Gwangyang City operates "On-site Communication Day" every month, directly visiting major project sites and civil complaint locations to reflect citizens' voices in municipal administration.
