President Song Changhyun of Hyundai Motor Group: "Building an SDV Mass Production Supply Chain with Key Partners"

"PleoS SDV Standard Forum" Held
Accelerating the SDV Era Through Building a Software Ecosystem

Hyundai Motor Group has strengthened its collaborative foundation by sharing the latest technology standards and software development systems with key partners, aiming to accelerate the era of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV).

On August 20, at the Software Dream Center in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, Hyundai Motor Group held the "PleoS SDV Standard Forum" with the participation of core engineering personnel from 58 major domestic and international controller partners, including Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Kefico, Bosch, Continental, and HL Mando.

Unlike traditional vehicles, where functions are fixed at the time of production, an SDV is a platform that allows software updates and feature expansions even after the vehicle is delivered. For SDVs to reach mass production, not only automakers but also parts suppliers, software developers, and those in security, diagnostics, and verification must shift their development environments to be software-centric. This requires supporting standards and a collaborative framework across all sectors.

Through this forum, Hyundai Motor Group shared the latest technology standards and development systems necessary for the SDV transition with its partners and agreed to establish a software-centered collaborative system in advance.

Following a keynote speech by Song Changhyun, President and AVP Head of Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, the forum featured five sessions: ▲Transition of vehicle development methods for SDV mass production ▲Application of the optimized hardware and flexible software architecture "CODA" ▲Vehicle software development through "PleoS Vehicle OS" ▲A continuously expandable standardized structure for external devices ▲An integrated software development toolchain between OEMs and partners.

On this day, technology executives from Hyundai Motor Company, Kia, and 42dot further detailed the direction presented at the "PleoS 25" developer conference in March, explaining the challenges encountered during the SDV transition and the strategies to address them.

In particular, they introduced a standardized software development system that supports SDV development and provided concrete guidelines for partners to apply it to their own development environments. This system is designed to cover the entire process, from software specification definition to function verification, development issue management, and deliverable management. Its key feature is enabling Hyundai Motor Group and its partners to securely link and share development data in real time.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to support its partners in discovering new business opportunities aligned with the SDV era and will continue to accelerate the transformation of the technology development environment by regularly operating forums and sharing technology roadmaps on an ongoing basis.

President Song Changhyun stated, "Close collaboration among key partners and the spread of standardized development systems are essential for SDV implementation. Through the continuous distribution of technology standards, we will establish a mass production supply chain for SDVs and build a mutually cooperative, software-centered network."
