Gyeryong City's Happy Taxi to Offer 1,000-Won Fare and Enhanced Convenience Starting in September

Gyeryong City in South Chungcheong Province will significantly improve its "Happy Taxi" system to enhance convenience for citizens and alleviate their financial burden.

On August 20, the city announced that starting September 1, a simplified usage process and a more reasonable fare system will be implemented.

Previously, the Happy Taxi required users to tag at four stages-boarding, taking a photo, sending, and alighting. From now on, users will only need to tag twice: once when boarding and once when alighting.

This reduction in unnecessary steps will allow both users and drivers to access the service more quickly and safely.

When traveling within the city, users previously paid a basic personal fare of 1,000 won and were responsible for any amount exceeding 7,000 won. Under the new system, users will only pay 1,000 won for trips within the city. For trips outside the city, users will pay only the amount exceeding 7,000 won.

Eligible users include city residents who are: ▲ seniors aged 75 or older living alone ▲ individuals aged 70 or older who have returned their driver's license ▲ basic livelihood security recipients and those in the next-lowest income group ▲ single-parent families ▲ pregnant women who have difficulty using public transportation ▲ individuals with temporary disabilities due to accidents or illness ▲ and users of special transportation services.

Those wishing to use the taxi service can apply for a Happy Taxi card by submitting an application form at their local township or neighborhood office.

A city official stated, "This improvement will not only enhance mobility for citizens but also reduce the work burden on taxi drivers. We will continue to expand transportation welfare services that satisfy both citizens and drivers."
