This TF formation is a follow-up measure to Mayor Park Seungwon's announcement last month during the 3rd anniversary address of the 8th local government, in which he outlined the plan to attract the K-Arena to Gwangmyeong Siheung New Town. The city explained that this is a proactive response to foster core content and related industries in performing arts and culture, in line with the new government's national agenda of "Transforming Content into a National Strategic Industry for the K-Culture Era."

The TF is headed by Vice Mayor Jeong Soonwook and consists of four divisions: strategy and planning, industry attraction, urban planning, and administrative support. Eight city departments and the Gwangmyeong Cultural Foundation are participating in the TF.

The strategy and planning division oversees the overall direction and strategy for attracting the arena and establishes collaborative systems with relevant external organizations, including government ministries. The industry attraction division is responsible for reviewing private investment methods, formulating investment plans, and attracting related companies.

The urban planning division reviews suitable sites within Gwangmyeong Siheung New Town and carries out administrative procedures such as urban planning changes. The administrative support division is in charge of establishing financial plans, conducting legal reviews, and handling external communications.

At the meeting, the city discussed ▲the basic direction and strategy for attracting the arena ▲achieving carbon neutrality and building a sustainable K-Culture ecosystem ▲linking with local cultural and tourism resources ▲connections with national agendas, Gyeonggi Province policies, and pledges ▲strategies for attracting private investment and related companies ▲and reviewing suitable sites within the new town.

The city plans to hold regular and ad-hoc meetings by division to further develop detailed policy tasks and implementation strategies, and will work with the central government and Gyeonggi Province to actively pursue activities to attract the arena.

Mayor Park stated, "I am determined to ensure the arena is attracted so that we can create a new growth ecosystem where culture and industry converge, generating high-quality jobs," adding, "Gwangmyeong City will play a key role in Korea's rise as a global cultural powerhouse."
