This exercise simulated potential terror threats targeting multi-use facilities and was carried out with the participation of the city government, civilian organizations, the military, the police, and the fire department.
The exercise applied a complex scenario that required simultaneous responses to the discovery of explosives and CBRN terror situations, allowing each agency to assess its mission performance and cooperation system.
During the exercise, a quadrupedal robot was used for explosive detection and reconnaissance of hazardous areas, demonstrating the utility of advanced equipment. In addition, decontamination and emergency relief procedures were conducted in a manner closely resembling real situations to enhance the effectiveness of the response system to CBRN threats.
In particular, the city not only established a foundation for cooperation with related agencies through this exercise but also supported each agency in performing its role closely, thereby further strengthening its ability to respond to terror incidents at multi-use facilities.
Mayor Donghwan Lee of Goyang Special City stated, "Thorough preparation and inter-agency cooperation are essential for effectively responding to complex threats such as explosives and CBRN terror attacks," adding, "Through today's practical Eulji Exercise, we will continue to make Goyang a safer city where citizens can feel more secure."
Meanwhile, Goyang Special City is using the Eulji Exercise to assess its practical response capabilities to national emergencies and various crisis situations. The city also plans to continuously strengthen its disaster and terror response capabilities by actively utilizing advanced equipment and cooperation systems in the future.
