"An effective evacuation system must be established through regular training."
Governor Park Wansu of Gyeongnam Province emphasized this point during the '2025 Eulji Exercise Daily Situation Briefing' held at the Integrated Defense Situation Room of the provincial government on the 19th.

Governor Park instructed, "During this exercise period, we must ensure that our response capabilities, including the emergency evacuation order system for residents, are thoroughly improved."
He also stressed the need for: practical evacuation drills in the event of complex disasters such as wildfires and heavy rainfall; strengthening military defense systems to counter drone and UAV attacks; establishing detour routes and restoration plans in case key transportation facilities such as the Changwon Tunnel are blocked; and specifying plans for setting up emergency medical posts.
Governor Park stated, "Although the Eulji Exercise is held every August, disasters or wars do not occur only at specific times. Therefore, the timing and scenarios of the training must also be flexible and realistic."
He added, "The Gyeongsangnam-do Integrated Defense Council should not limit itself to its usual scope, but should also enhance information-sharing systems, keeping in mind the possibility of cooperation with other agencies in times of emergency."

Officials from related organizations, including the 39th Infantry Division, attended the meeting.
They delivered military situation reports, comprehensive situation briefings, and incident handling reports from the central control unit.
They also reviewed wildfire status and firefighting responses, emergency medical and relief measures, and military and police protection plans, based on a scenario of large-scale wildfires caused by simultaneous arson in Sacheon and Yangsan areas.
Additionally, they shared response measures and cooperation systems with relevant agencies in the event of a terror attack targeting multi-use facilities, as well as shortages of medical facilities, personnel, and pharmaceuticals in the province.
Gyeongnam Province plans to assess and strengthen its regional defense capabilities through practical, scenario-based training during the Eulji Exercise, which continues until the 22nd.
