Nambu University Recruiting Students for Second Semester of Youth Golf "Kids Challenge"

A 15-Week Family Golf Program
Focusing on Safety, Character, and Lifelong Skills for Children and Parents
Applications Open August 18-28 at Nambu University

Nambu University Recruiting Students for Second Semester of Youth Golf "Kids Challenge" The Lifelong Education Center at Nambu University is recruiting students for the second semester regular course of the family-participation youth golf program, "Family in Golf Kids Challenge."

The Lifelong Education Center at Nambu University will operate the second semester regular course of the "Family in Golf Kids Challenge," Gwangju's first family-participation youth golf program, from August 25 to December 15, 2025.

This course will be held twice a week for 15 weeks, with each session lasting one hour. Elementary school students at the beginner level and their parents can participate together. The curriculum is structured step-by-step, covering everything from basic swings to putting, course etiquette, and actual field rounds, allowing even beginners to learn systematically.

The Lifelong Education Center at Nambu University confirmed the potential of family participation programs through the "Family in Golf Summer Kids Challenge" held during the previous summer vacation. The program is being recognized as a new model of recreational sports that goes beyond simple sports classes, enabling families to learn together.

In particular, recent studies have shown that for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or difficulties with emotional regulation, sports that require individual focus and self-control are more beneficial than intense team ball games (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 2020; National Youth Policy Institute of Korea, 2021). Accordingly, this course will focus on safety guidance and character-centered education.

The instruction team consists of Park Changwon, adjunct professor at Jeju National University who has experience teaching students at military education institutions and universities, and Hong Sungkwon, a professional who previously served as head pro at Sangmu Practice Range. The instructors stated that, beyond skill acquisition, "Through golf, children will develop concentration, etiquette, and self-management skills, and the experience shared with family will become a lifelong asset."

This regular course will be held at the Nambu University Golf Practice Range, and the participation fee is 500,000 won per person (including practice range use). While children can register individually, participating as a family provides a more effective family sports experience.

Applications are open from August 18 to August 28, and may close early if capacity is reached. For more details, please contact the Nambu University website or the Lifelong Education Center.
