Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Lim Chaecheong) announced on August 18 that it had carried out laundry relief activities in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, which was recently affected by flooding due to heavy rainfall.
This initiative was a collaborative effort among six organizations: Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, Seoul Volunteer Center, Eunpyeong-gu Volunteer Center, Won Buddhism Volunteer Service Association, Korean Red Cross Seoul Chapter, and Eungam 3-dong Community Center in Eunpyeong-gu. The public and private sectors worked together by providing both manpower and equipment, adding significance to the solidarity in supporting neighbors affected by the disaster.
Over the course of two days, a total of 60 volunteers-including 20 from the Won Buddhism Volunteer Service Association and 40 from the Red Cross-participated in the laundry service, assisting with 1,040 kg of laundry.
A special 5.5-ton mobile laundry vehicle, sponsored by Lotte Group, was deployed for this activity. The vehicle is equipped with three 18 kg large-capacity washing machines and three 23 kg large-capacity dryers, enabling it to wash and dry approximately 1,000 kg of clothing and bedding on-site in eight hours.
Hope Bridge Secretary General Shin Hoon, who visited the laundry relief activity site in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, is taking a commemorative photo with Gang Myungkwon, a minister of Won Buddhism Volunteer Service Association. Hope Bridge
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of Hope Bridge, who visited the site, stated, "The most important thing is for those affected to quickly return to their daily lives," and added, "I hope that activities like the laundry service, which provide direct support for daily living, can offer some comfort to the disaster victims."
A volunteer from the Won Buddhism Volunteer Service Association who participated in the laundry service said, "I feel a sense of fulfillment knowing that we can help ease the inconvenience of our neighbors through laundry," and added, "We will continue to participate in activities that share and overcome difficulties together with the local community."
