World No. 1 and FedExCup leader Scottie Scheffler (USA) showcased a spectacular wedge shot.

On August 17 (local time), Scheffler claimed victory at the second playoff event of the PGA Tour, the BMW Championship (total prize money: $20 million), held at Caves Valley Golf Club (par 70, 7,061 yards) in Owings Mills, Maryland, USA. On the final day, he carded six birdies and three bogeys for a three-under-par round, completing a four-shot comeback victory at 15-under-par 265. This marked his fifth win of the season and the 18th of his career, following last month's major, The Open. He took home the winner's prize of $3.6 million (approximately 5 billion KRW).

The highlight came at the 17th hole (par 3), where he was clinging to a one-shot lead. His tee shot landed in the rough around the green. In a moment of crisis, he took out his wedge and holed a chip shot birdie from about 25 meters, crushing the comeback hopes of Robert MacIntyre (Scotland), who was in hot pursuit. The shot drew praise for evoking memories of Tiger Woods' magical chip-in birdies.

Scheffler is known not only for his long drives but also for his exceptional short game, particularly his approach shots. For this tournament, he carried three wedges in his bag: Titleist Vokey Design SM8 (50, 56 degrees) and Titleist Vokey Design WedgeWorks (60 degrees). Scheffler said, "On the 17th hole, I knew that even a par wouldn't be a bad score. It always feels great when a chip shot like that drops. The ball looked good when it landed on the green, it looked good as it rolled, and seeing it go in was just fantastic."
