Through this agreement, the two universities have committed to collaborate on joint research in the marine and fisheries sectors, as well as to establish a foundation for workforce development and technological exchange.

The plan is to generate synergy by combining each university's specialized capabilities in the marine and fisheries sector and in artificial intelligence.

With the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries scheduled to relocate to Busan, this partnership between universities in Busan and Ulsan that are recognized for their outstanding research achievements is expected to accelerate the training of professionals and the establishment of research infrastructure in the marine and fisheries sector.

Under this agreement, the universities will cooperate in several areas, including the establishment and operation of a joint research center, the implementation of specialized workforce development programs, joint planning and acquisition of national and global R&D projects, and the co-hosting of a Marine and Fisheries AI Forum. Accordingly, the two institutions will jointly conduct research and education that integrates marine and fisheries studies with AI, and will work together on various research and development projects based on this collaboration.

National Pukyong University plans to establish the so-called 'Marine and Fisheries Science Park' at its Yongdang Campus, which has been selected for the Campus Innovation Park Project, and will operate research centers and graduate programs there.

President Sanghoon Bae stated, "We will expand inter-university cooperation for high-level talent development to the broader region and faithfully fulfill the university's role as a central hub to help the southeastern region emerge as a marine industry cluster."
