7-Under in Indianapolis Final Round
Fails to Finish Inside Top 48 in Points Rankings
Munoz Claims First Victory, Rahm Second, Johnson Third
Jang Yubin tied for 27th place in the final individual event of the LIV Golf season.
On August 17 (local time), at The Club at Chatham Hills (par 71) in Westfield, Indiana, USA, Jang fired a 7-under-par 64 in the final round of the LIV Golf Indianapolis tournament (total prize money: $25 million), but finished tied for 27th at 10-under-par 203. Despite a strong performance, he was unable to break into the top 10. With the conclusion of the Indianapolis event, LIV Golf finalized its individual season rankings. Jang Yubin failed to make it into the top 48 in the points rankings, which would have secured his spot in LIV Golf for the next season.
If Jang Yubin does not regain his LIV Golf entry through the promotion event, his only options are to move to the Asian Tour or return to the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Tour. After winning a team gold medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games held in 2023, he turned professional the following year. Last year, he swept individual titles such as the money list and the Player of the Year award on the KPGA Tour, and, contrary to expectations, made a surprise move to LIV Golf instead of challenging the PGA Tour.
However, while Jang Yubin was not lacking in driving distance on the LIV Golf circuit, his overall performance fell short. His best finish in 13 events was a tie for 21st. Including this final tournament, he finished inside the top 20 only four times.
Sebastian Munoz (Colombia) shot 6 under par on the day to tie Jon Rahm (Spain) at 22-under-par 191, then clinched victory with a birdie on the first playoff hole, the 18th (par 4). This marked his first win since joining LIV Golf in 2023. The winner's prize was $4 million (approximately 5.5 billion KRW). Munoz, representing Torque GC, also claimed the team title alongside Joaquin Niemann, Mito Pereira (both from Chile), and Carlos Ortiz (Mexico). He took home $750,000, which is 25% of the $3 million team winner's prize.
Although Rahm missed out on the win, he narrowly edged out Joaquin Niemann (Chile), who racked up five season victories, to top the season points standings and earn an $18 million bonus. Dustin Johnson (USA) finished third at 20-under-par 193. LIV Golf will wrap up its season after determining the team rankings over three days at The Cardinal at St. John's in Plymouth, Michigan, starting August 22.
