A Platform for Recreational Sports Exchange
with 24 Teams from Gyeonggi Province Competing
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) announced on the 17th that Mayor Joo attended the opening ceremony of the '2025 Gyeonggi-do Sports Council President's Cup Recreational Volleyball Tournament' held at Geumgok Indoor Gymnasium on the 16th, where he personally encouraged the participating teams.

Mayor Joo visited the event to promote grassroots sports and enhance citizens' health. He greeted each player individually and delivered messages of support. In his welcome address at the opening ceremony, he emphasized the importance of recreational sports in fostering healthy daily lives and restoring community bonds.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "Recreational sports are a vital foundation for protecting citizens' health and strengthening community cohesion," and added, "I hope this volleyball tournament will serve as a platform for unity and exchange among enthusiasts from across Gyeonggi Province." He continued, "The city will do its utmost to create environments where everyone can exercise nearby and to promote recreational sports."
Key figures from the sports community, including the president of the Gyeonggi Province Volleyball Association and the president of the Namyangju Volleyball Association, also attended the opening ceremony, adding significance to the event. Some of the prize money was awarded in Namyangju local currency, which increased participants' satisfaction and contributed to revitalizing the local economy.
The tournament was hosted by the Gyeonggi Province Volleyball Association and organized by the Namyangju Volleyball Association. It was held over two days, from the 16th to the 17th, with 24 teams and 480 volleyball enthusiasts from across Gyeonggi Province participating.
From Namyangju, four teams-Hanuri Club, Byeollae Wings Club, Jinjeop Club, and Geumgok Club-competed, showcasing their skills.
A city official commented, "This tournament has strengthened unity among volleyball enthusiasts and provided an opportunity to share the joy of recreational sports," adding, "We will continue to cooperate so that a variety of sports activities can be more accessible to citizens."
