Haneungeollo Wins Grand Prize at "Daejeon Blues Creative Song Festival" with "Daejeon, 12:50 AM"

At the Daejeon Blues Creative Song Festival, held in conjunction with the Daejeon Midnight Festival, the group Haneungeollo won the grand prize for their performance of "Daejeon, 12:50 AM."


The 3rd Daejeon Blues Creative Song Festival, which expressed the city’s unique sensibility and identity through music, took place at 7 PM on August 14 on the outdoor stage in front of Daejeon Station, drawing a large crowd of citizens and enjoying great success.


This event, which has been held annually since 2023, aims to support the creative activities of local musicians and discover music content themed around Daejeon. It has become a representative cultural festival for the city.


This year, a total of 72 teams from across the country applied to participate. After intense first and second preliminary rounds, eight teams advanced to the finals.


The finalists were: Kim Dongju (Jeonnam, "Daejeon Disco"), Kwon Mi-ae (Sejong, "DREAM ON Daejeon"), Reverbros (Gyeonggi, "Father's Daejeon Blues"), Ma Jingi (Daejeon, "Mokcheokgyo Blues"), Men in Blues (Daejeon, "Memory Box"), Kongnammae (Daejeon, "Discharge! Daejeon Station!"), Farben Band (Jeonnam, "I Don't Know Daejeon"), and Haneungeollo (Daejeon, "Daejeon 12:50 AM"). Each team performed an original, unreleased song themed around "Daejeon," fully showcasing their individuality and musicality on stage.


The final round was conducted as a participatory competition, with 80% of the score determined by a panel of professional judges and 20% by audience QR voting, further boosting the enthusiasm of citizens at the venue.


As a result, the grand prize went to Haneungeollo for "Daejeon, 12:50 AM." The top excellence award was given to Kongnammae for "Discharge! Daejeon Station!," the excellence awards went to Reverbros, Farben Band, and Men in Blues, and the encouragement awards were presented to Kim Dongju, Kwon Mi-ae, and Ma Jingi.


The prize money awarded was 5 million won for the grand prize, 3 million won for the top excellence award, 1.5 million won for each excellence award, and 500,000 won for each encouragement award.


The winning songs will be used at various events and festivals hosted by the city of Daejeon in the future. In addition, further support will be provided through Daejeon’s music production support program, including official music releases and performance opportunities.


Jeon Ilhong, Director of Culture, Arts, and Tourism at Daejeon City, stated, "Through the creative song festival, we are accumulating music content IP that captures Daejeon’s unique sensibility. We will continue to host music festivals that embody Daejeon’s stories and emotions, providing opportunities for creators and inspiration for citizens."
