Gwangju Police to Intensively Crack Down on Illegal Two-Wheeled Vehicle Activities on Liberation Day Night

Joint Crackdown on Reckless Driving, Noise, and Illegal Modifications

The Gwangju Police Agency and the Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee announced that they will conduct intensive crackdowns on illegal activities involving two-wheeled vehicles throughout Gwangju from the night of August 14 until the early morning of August 15.

To prevent reckless and dangerous driving on Liberation Day, Gwangju police will deploy 167 officers-including members of the traffic patrol, traffic investigation team, and field traffic units-as well as 54 patrol cars and police motorcycles to conduct patrols and crackdowns. At major intersections and locations where gatherings of reckless two-wheeled vehicles are anticipated, police will strengthen visible enforcement and set up checkpoints, conducting sobriety checks in parallel.

In addition to crackdowns on reckless driving, joint inspections with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and local governments will target violations of the Automobile Management Act, such as excessive noise and illegal vehicle modifications. A representative from the Gwangju Police Agency stated, "We will respond strictly to reckless and dangerous driving that threatens citizens' safety, doing our utmost to establish a safe and peaceful road environment and maintain public order."
