Stephen King (78), a master of horror novels including thriller and mystery genres, described U.S. President Donald Trump as a horror story in himself. On August 14, Yonhap News reported that during a 'Q&A with readers' with The Guardian, King was asked by a reader, "If you had to write the ending of the Trump era in America, how would you write it?" He responded, "Impeachment."

That day, King said the best ending he could imagine was "impeachment," adding, "I would just say that I want to see him retire." He continued, "The bad ending would be if he wins a third term and takes complete control of everything," emphasizing, "Either way, it's a horror story. Isn't Trump a horror story in himself?"

King has long been a critic of President Trump and is a prominent figure in the American arts and culture scene. In an interview with The Washington Post ahead of the 2016 presidential election between Hillary Clinton and Trump, he said, "The prospect of Trump becoming president is more frightening than anything else." After Trump won re-election in the most recent presidential race, King expressed his disappointment and shock. He also left X, where he had been very active, criticizing Elon Musk, who had ardently supported and assisted Trump. In April, King also criticized the president's tariff policy, stating, "President Trump is ruining the economy with his stupid tariffs."

Meanwhile, Stephen King, who debuted in 1974 with the novel "Carrie," is a bestselling author beloved by readers worldwide for his popular genre novels such as "The Shining" and "Misery." He also wrote the original novels for the films "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile."
