Securing Special Grants to Improve Daily Life and Safety
Making Seo-gu a Better Place to Live
Jo Incheol, member of the Democratic Party of Korea.
Jo Incheol, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Gwangju Seo-gu Gap, announced on August 14 that he has secured a special grant of 900 million won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to address key issues in the Seo-gu area of Gwangju. This budget will be primarily allocated to improving parks, bridges, and sewage facilities that are closely connected to the daily lives of citizens.
As part of the special grant projects, Hwachu Children's Park in Gwangcheon-dong will be remodeled into a multi-purpose healing space equipped with a floor fountain, playground facilities, walking trails, and rest areas. The previously neglected park is set to be transformed into a green urban oasis accessible to all generations.
Concerns about safety at the Jwaro 18 Bridge have persisted due to structural corrosion and damaged railings. With the secured grant, reinforcement of the lower structure, replacement of railings, and pavement maintenance will be carried out, significantly improving safety for students commuting to school and enhancing the pedestrian environment.
Additionally, in the densely populated old housing areas of Yang-dong and Yang 3-dong, a project to reduce foul odors will be launched by beginning sewage pipeline maintenance and installing odor-blocking devices, addressing frequent complaints from residents.
Jo emphasized, "Alleys, parks, and bridges in Seo-gu are spaces directly linked to residents' daily lives, and securing this special grant is a tangible achievement that citizens will be able to feel in their everyday routines. Moving forward, I will continue to address practical inconveniences and safety concerns one by one, working to make Seo-gu a better place for everyone to live."
Since joining the National Assembly, Jo has secured a total of 2 billion won in special grants, focusing on resident-centered improvements such as park maintenance, CCTV installation, and seismic reinforcement of welfare facilities.
