Busan Science and Technology Advisory Group Conducts AI Training for Citizens

Joint Program with Suyeong District Offers Tailored AI Training
for Youth, Young Adults, Middle-aged, and Seniors

The Busan Science and Technology Advisory Group (headed by Jang Jongwook), in collaboration with Suyeong District of Busan, conducted an "AI Understanding and Application Training for Suyeong District Residents" at the computer lab of Deokmoon Girls’ High School from August 11 to 13, 2025.

This training was organized to enhance citizens’ understanding of AI technology and strengthen their ability to utilize it in everyday life.


The program offered a curriculum tailored to each generation’s needs: ▲ For youth-digital learning and career exploration ▲ For young adults-job preparation and practical applications ▲ For middle-aged adults-work efficiency and daily use ▲ For seniors-understanding convenience services.


The lectures were led by Jang Jongwook, head of the Busan Science and Technology Advisory Group and professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Dong-Eui University. The sessions focused on practical exercises to improve participants’ real-world skills, covering AI concepts and principles, prompt writing, generative AI applications such as writing, drawing, video and music production, YouTube Shorts creation, case studies of AI in the workplace, AI ethics, and future outlooks for AI.


Professor Jang Jongwook is an expert in computer communications and information and communication technology (ICT) convergence, with extensive knowledge of wired and wireless communication networks and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Over more than 25 years in academia, he has dedicated himself to research and education, publishing 16 books, over 600 research papers, filing more than 80 patents, and receiving over 50 awards for outstanding papers at domestic and international IT conferences.


On the first day of the training, Suyeong District National Assembly member Jung Yeonwook visited the venue and encouraged participants in his congratulatory remarks, stating, "I hope this training serves as a starting point for residents to properly understand and safely utilize AI."


Koo Kyungyeol, sponsor chair of the Busan Science and Technology Advisory Group, said, "AI is not a distant technology. If you learn it, you can use it, and using it makes life more convenient." He added, "We will further accelerate efforts to vitalize Busan’s science and technology sectors through cooperation with other local governments and related organizations in the region."


The Busan Science and Technology Advisory Group was established in June 2025 with the core values of knowledge sharing, nurturing future generations, network formation, and social contribution, aiming to restore the competitiveness of Busan’s science and technology sectors. The group operates a variety of activities and educational programs for citizens to foster young engineers in the region and enhance industrial competitiveness.
