Jeonnam Province has selected Yongooreum Village in Juam-myeon, Suncheon, as this month's Rural Experience and Recreation Village, where visitors can enjoy refreshing valley water activities and a variety of experiential programs.
Yongooreum Village is a tranquil place with a 600-year-old village forest and a clear, cool valley, making it an ideal destination to experience both traditional culture and relaxation in nature.
In particular, the Yongooreum Valley is the perfect spot for water play, thanks to the abundant tree shade that shields visitors from the hot sunlight. The beautiful rainbow bridge spanning the valley offers visitors unforgettable memories.
Throughout the year, Yongooreum Village also operates a variety of cultural experience programs. Families with children can enjoy activities such as making "honey gochujang" using homegrown chili peppers and honey produced through beekeeping, as well as making "handmade tofu" using traditional methods.
Additionally, visitors can participate in various craft programs, including DIY wood lamp making using trees cultivated in Yongooreum Village, beeswax candle making, egg candle making, and adlay bead crafting.
Nearby, there are some of Suncheon's most popular tourist attractions, such as Suncheonman Bay National Garden, Naganeupseong Folk Village, and Seonamsa Temple, allowing visitors to plan a perfect summer vacation alongside their visit to Yongooreum Village.
Yongooreum Village also operates accommodation facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for visitors. Detailed information about the village and reservations for experience programs are available on the village's official website.
Kim Hyunmi, Director of Agricultural Policy at Jeonnam Province, stated, "We plan to continue actively promoting rural experience and recreation villages that are ideal for travel by selecting one each month," and added, "We hope many visitors will enjoy various experiences and relaxing breaks at rural experience and recreation villages throughout the province."
Currently, Jeonnam Province operates 172 rural experience and recreation villages, attracting approximately 1.3 million visitors annually.
