Damyang County, led by Governor Jeong Cheolwon, announced on the 13th that it operated the veterans education program "Dambo Special Forces" for two days starting from the 12th, targeting 50 local children to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.
"Dambo Special Forces" is an educational program designed to help local children reflect on the historical significance of regional veterans facilities-such as the birthplace and memorial hall of Song Jinwoo, as well as the Peace Art Plaza-while fostering a sense of pride in their community.
The program began with a guided explanation by Professor Song Jinhan, a descendant of Song Jinwoo and director of the memorial hall, and continued with a photo session featuring Damyang Police Station’s motorcycles and patrol cars, as well as traffic safety education.
In particular, to enhance children's awareness of safety, Damyang Police Station also conducted traffic safety education at the Damyang Children's Traffic Experience Center located within the Peace Art Plaza. The county plans to expand the target group and further develop this initiative into a sustainable veterans education program, rather than ending it as a one-time event.
Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "I hope this meaningful occasion served as a time to remember and shed new light on the sacrifices and dedication of our region’s independence patriots, who are a source of local pride," adding, "We will continue to develop veterans education into a sustainable program so that it becomes a part of daily life."
