Emphasizes Congressional Support for
"Win-Win" Outcomes from Korean Investments
The Presidential Office announced that on August 12, National Security Advisor Wi Sunglak held a meeting with U.S. Representatives Beth Van Duyne and Rich McCormick. The two lawmakers visited Korea during the U.S. Congress recess.
During the meeting, Advisor Wi welcomed the lawmakers' visit to Korea and requested their continued interest and support so that the Republic of Korea and the United States can further strengthen and develop their alliance under the vision of a "future-oriented comprehensive strategic alliance" amid the changing security and economic environment.
Advisor Wi also pointed out that strategic investments by Korean companies in sectors such as semiconductors and automotive batteries in Texas and Georgia-the home states of the two lawmakers-are contributing to revitalizing local economies and creating jobs. He emphasized the need for congressional interest and support to ensure that such investments in the United States lead to win-win outcomes for both countries.
Advisor Wi went on to express his hope that the upcoming Korea-U.S. summit would reaffirm the solid alliance between the two countries and provide an opportunity for in-depth discussions on ways to advance the alliance. The two lawmakers responded by pledging their full support for the success of the summit.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, the two lawmakers expressed their appreciation for the expansion of Korean investment in the United States and stated that they would support further investments by Korean companies to strengthen Korea-U.S. economic cooperation. They also confirmed that there is bipartisan support for the Korea-U.S. alliance within the U.S. Congress and pledged to continue efforts to further develop the alliance.
