According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, citing foreign monitoring agencies, the earthquake occurred at 5:24:22 p.m. KST in an area 201 kilometers west-northwest of Jayapura, Indonesia, with a magnitude of 6.3.
The epicenter was located at 2.06 degrees south latitude and 138.97 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometers.
