1,181 Entry-Level Employees and 19 Professional Staff to Be Hired
Expanded Local Talent Recruitment... Applications Accepted August 22-26
KORAIL announced on August 12 that it will hire 1,200 new employees in the second half of this year. Following the recruitment of 2,243 people in the first half, KORAIL's hiring scale is the largest among public institutions for both halves of the year. The total number of hires for 2025 will exceed 3,400.
Of the new hires, 1,181 will be entry-level employees and 19 will be professional or experienced staff. Entry-level recruitment will be divided into 563 through open competitive hiring and 618 through restricted competitive hiring. The restricted competitive category includes 214 with certification restrictions, 335 high school graduates, 50 veterans, and 19 with residency restrictions.
To attract outstanding local talent, KORAIL will divide the country into six regions for recruitment: the Seoul Metropolitan Area, Gangwon Area, Chungcheong Area, Honam Area, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Area, and Busan-Gyeongnam Area.
There are seven job categories: 152 for administration and sales, 115 for train crew, 160 for train operation, 246 for rolling stock, 101 for civil engineering, 50 for architecture, and 357 for electrical and telecommunications. Notably, this year KORAIL has newly established the train crew category to enhance specialization and service quality.
The recruitment process will include document screening, a written test, a practical test, and an interview. Successful candidates will undergo a hiring-type internship for at least two weeks, and those who pass a separate evaluation will be appointed as regular employees. Professional and experienced staff will be recruited in areas such as smart city development, spatial design, complex sales IR, artificial intelligence, big data, and other fields related to station area development and digital railway services.
Starting this year, KORAIL has eased physical fitness requirements for the rolling stock, architecture, and electrical and telecommunications fields. The company has also increased the hiring ratio of local high school graduates and expanded the number of residency-restricted recruitment areas from three to nine, now including Taebaek, Jeongseon, Yeongwol, Pyeongchang, Jecheon, Danyang, Yeongju, Bonghwa, and Uljin.
Applications will be accepted exclusively through the KORAIL website from 2:00 p.m. on August 22 until 2:00 p.m. on August 26. For professional and experienced positions, the deadline is 2:00 p.m. on August 27.
Han Moonhee, President of KORAIL, stated, "We have significantly increased our hiring scale in the second half of the year, following the first half, to help address youth unemployment by providing stable jobs. We look forward to receiving many applications from talented and innovative individuals who will help lead the future of Korea's railway industry."
