Nintendo Switch Console and Steam PC Release
An Emotional Game About Restoring Rusty and Worn Objects
On August 11, Krafton announced that its development subsidiary, 5MinLab, will release the emotional cleaning simulation game 'Understeed: Letters from the Past' for Nintendo Switch this coming October.
The news of Understeed's Nintendo Switch release was first revealed on August 7 during 'Nintendo Indie World,' an event introducing upcoming indie games for Nintendo consoles, drawing significant attention. The PC version of Understeed is also scheduled for release on Steam in October.
Understeed is a game in which players restore rusty and worn objects by cleaning them. Using a variety of cleaning tools such as sponges and toothbrushes, players must return nostalgic items like teacups and cassette players to their original state. Players can carefully clean each contaminated area by inspecting it directly. Each stage is completed when the restoration progress bar displayed at the bottom of the screen reaches 100%.
The game's protagonist, Adora, returns to her childhood home after her mother's passing and begins sorting through neglected belongings, confronting memories from the past. As she restores the memories embedded in each item, she gradually comes to understand her mother, with whom her relationship had grown distant.
Featuring cozy pixel art graphics, the satisfying sounds of cleaning tools, and a lyrical soundtrack, the game offers a warm and comforting audiovisual experience. A demo is currently available on Steam, and more information can be found on the Steam store page.
