Join the 80th Anniversary of Liberation 'Patriotism Online Event'... Gyeongbuk Office of Education Hosts Poetry Recitation, Thank You Letters, and Taegeukgi Hunt

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) is holding a variety of patriotic online events for the general public under the slogan "Remembering the Day We Regained the Light" to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation. These events will be held from August 11 to August 17 through the official SNS channels of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education.


This event has been organized to commemorate the noble spirit of the independence movement and to promote a proper sense of patriotism. It will be conducted in three main categories: "Breath of Liberation, Revived Through Poetry," "Thank You Letters to Independence Activists," and "Finding the Taegeukgi Around Me."

First, the "Breath of Liberation, Revived Through Poetry" event invites participants to upload a video of themselves reciting a poem that captures the emotion of Liberation and the longing for independence to their personal SNS accounts, using the required hashtags such as 'Gyeongsangbukdo Office of Education,' '80th Anniversary of Liberation,' and 'Patriotism Project.' Participants must also submit their personal information via the event link. Sample poetry recitation videos can be found on the official YouTube channel of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, "Matcoolmeotcool TV."


The "Thank You Letters to Independence Activists" event asks participants to write a letter expressing gratitude and respect to independence activists in the comments section of the official Gyeongbuk Office of Education Instagram feed, and then submit their personal information via the provided link.


For the "Finding the Taegeukgi Around Me" event, participants are encouraged to find a Taegeukgi (the Korean national flag) in their daily lives, take a photo with a thumbs-up pose, and upload it to their personal SNS accounts with the required hashtags: 'Gyeongsangbukdo Office of Education,' '80th Anniversary of Liberation,' and 'Patriotism Project.' Participants must also submit their personal information. Various types of photos are acceptable, including images of the Taegeukgi displayed on Liberation Day or photos with the Taegeukgi in the background.


After the event concludes, a total of 240 winners?80 from each category?will be selected by drawing or judging, and will receive mobile gift certificates. Outstanding entries will be produced as original videos by the Gyeongbuk Office of Education and used as educational materials.


Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, stated, "Since 2019, our office has consistently carried out educational projects on the history of the independence movement, including the operation of the 'Overseas Independence Movement Pilgrimage Group.' I hope that this event, prepared to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation, will provide a meaningful opportunity for many citizens to participate and reflect on the significance of patriotism."
