KT Builds K-water's 5G Smart Office Network... Secure Access for Fieldwork

First Case Among Public Institutions... Accelerating Digital Transformation of Work

KT announced on August 10 that it has completed the construction of a 5G business network to implement a digital workplace for Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water).

KT applied its 5G mobile communication-based 'Smart Office Network' to K-water's business network, creating a digital work environment optimized for frequent job rotations, fieldwork, and business trips at nationwide sites.

The Smart Office Network applies internal security policies even in wireless network environments. When employees connect a dedicated 5G device (5G Egg) to their laptops, they can work in the same secure environment as the office without any additional configuration. This allows work to be conducted regardless of location, such as at home or on business trips. Previously, when office environments changed due to personnel transfers, organizational restructuring, or flood recovery efforts, repeated time and costs were required for network construction and equipment reconfiguration.

With this project, K-water has enabled flexible organizational structure and operation, such as smart offices and integrated workforce management, and expects to drive innovation in its work environment based on the digital workplace. It is being evaluated as a case that has simultaneously achieved tangible changes in work practices and enhanced overall competitiveness in the water industry.

Yoo Yongkyu, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Public Business at KT Enterprise, said, "By building a business network based on our differentiated 5G technology and security infrastructure optimized for public institutions, we will actively promote the transition to a 'digital workplace' and innovation in work practices for public institutions."
