On the southern coast of South Jeolla Province, rainfall of around 10mm per hour has continued, resulting in some areas recording accumulated precipitation exceeding 100mm. As reports of damage and traffic controls have followed, heavy rain advisories have been expanded to cover most areas of Gwangju and South Jeolla Province.

The Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain warning for Wando, Heuksando, and Hongdo on the afternoon of the 9th. Heavy rain advisories were issued for Naju, Hwasun, Goheung, Boseong, Yeosu, Jangheung, Gangjin, Haenam, Yeongam, Muan, Hampyeong, Mokpo, Shinan (excluding Heuksan-myeon), Jindo, Geomundo, and Chodo. In Gwangju, as of that afternoon, Damyang, Gokseong, Gurye, Jangseong, Gwangyang, Suncheon, and Yeonggwang were included in the preliminary heavy rain advisory starting at night.


As of 5 p.m., Yeoseodo in Wando recorded the highest amount with 102mm, followed by Chodo in Yeosu with 85.5mm, Haksan in Yeongam with 68.5mm, Heuksando in Shinan with 66.5mm, Boseong with 63mm, and Gangjin with 60.4mm. In Gwangju and inland areas, about 5mm of rain has fallen.


According to the forecast, between late afternoon on this day and the early morning of the following day, the southern coast of South Jeolla Province may experience heavy rainfall of 30 to 50mm per hour, with some areas possibly seeing around 70mm per hour. By the night of the 10th, an additional 50 to 100mm of rain is expected in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province.


In South Jeolla Province, two damage reports were received in the afternoon, including road flooding and sediment accumulation in Haenam County, and the local government took safety measures. In Gwangyang, Gurye, Hwasun, Muan, and Hampyeong, 47 residents (from 36 households) evacuated in advance to prevent damage.


Access to five national parks has been restricted, and the operation of five passenger ships on three routes has been suspended. Access has also been restricted at a total of 24 locations, including two riverside parking lots, four parks and campgrounds, two riverbanks, one riverside road, one stepping-stone bridge, and six other sites.
