Heavy rain warnings have been issued in Jeonnam, and preliminary warnings are in effect for Gwangju and other areas, indicating that the rainfall is gradually expanding.

According to the Gwangju Meteorological Administration on August 9, heavy rain warnings were issued at noon for Wando, Heuksando, and Hongdo in Jeonnam. Heavy rain advisories were issued for Goheung, Boseong, Yeosu, Jangheung, Gangjin, Haenam, Yeongam, Muan, Mokpo, Shinan, Jindo, Geomundo, and Chodo. Preliminary heavy rain warnings were issued for Gwangju, Naju, Hwasun, Hampyeong, and other areas, and the warning zones are expected to expand later in the afternoon.


The accumulated rainfall amounts are as follows: 64mm in Yeoseodo, Wando; 50.5mm in Hataedo, Shinan; 29.5mm in Chodo, Yeosu; 11mm in Bukil, Haenam; and 19.5mm in Seogeochado, Jindo. The hourly rainfall rates were 39mm in Hataedo, Yeosu; 28.5mm in Yeoseodo, Wando; and 15.5mm in Bukil, Haenam.


The rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected to bring over 150mm to inland areas and over 200mm to coastal regions through August 10, with hourly rainfall rates potentially reaching up to 70mm.


An official from the Meteorological Administration stated, "The rain, which started along the coast, is expected to spread inland," and urged people to refrain from entering rivers, valleys, and coastal areas, and to prepare for possible flooding and related hazards.
