People Power Party Issues Emergency Order: "Han Gil Jeon Banned from Convention" Over Escalating Conflict

Chanting "traitor" from the audience causes chaos
Non-delegates banned from entering the national convention
Stern warning: "Turning it into a venue for division and conflict"

Song Eonseok, the interim leader and floor leader of the People Power Party, on August 8 imposed a complete ban on Han Gil Jeon, a conservative YouTuber and former Korean history instructor, from attending the August 22 national convention. The decision was made because Jeon, by taking the stage in the audience section and chanting "traitor," was seen as escalating conflict at the People Power Party's national convention.

Song, in an emergency directive issued that day, stated, "I issue a stern warning regarding the fact that the national convention, which should be a festival, has been turned into a venue for division and conflict," and added, "We will prohibit entry to all future national convention events for individuals who do not have delegate status, including Han Gil Jeon, who caused confusion."

He also requested, "I ask the election committee, the central party, and the city and provincial party chapters to pay special attention so that the national convention can proceed smoothly."

Previously, Jeon, who attended the event as the publisher of 'Jeon Han Gil News,' chanted "traitor" during the Daegu-Gyeongbuk joint speech meeting when a video introducing Kim Geunsik, a supreme council candidate from the pro-impeachment faction (Chantanpa), included criticism of him. This led to party members joining in, resulting in a chaotic situation inside the venue. Jeon also encouraged applause and support when candidates from the anti-impeachment faction (Bantanpa) took the stage, saying "well done."

As a result, supporters of pro-impeachment candidates Ahn Cheolsoo and Cho Kyungtae targeted Jeon, throwing water bottles at him and further escalating the chaos.
