Improving Quality of Life and Promoting Regional Exchange Through Humanities
Goryeong County (Governor Lee Namcheol) announced the completion of the "2025 Humanities on the Road" program, which was held from June 5 to August 7.
This project was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Council Korea, with Goryeong County as the main organizer. Some sessions were operated in cooperation with the Dalseong County Library. The program was designed to improve the quality of life for local residents through humanities, and to promote cultural exchange with neighboring regions.
The program was held over 10 sessions, consisting of 6 lectures and 4 field trips. The lectures took place at the Daegaya Munhwa Nuri Center in Goryeong County, while the field trips offered hands-on experiences at historical and cultural sites in Goryeong and Dalseong, including Ureuk Museum, Gayatgo Village, Daegaya Arboretum, Songhae Park, and the Dalseong Wetland Ecological Learning Center.
The steady participation, high attendance rate, and satisfaction of the participants demonstrated the success of the program. Through joint field trips with neighboring Dalseong County, participants broadened their mutual understanding of the culture and history of both regions. The humanities lectures, focused on the history and culture of Goryeong, were well-received by residents for being both accessible and in-depth.
Lee Namcheol, Governor of Goryeong County, stated, "Through this humanities program, residents were able to encounter the humanities in their daily lives and reflect on their own lives," adding, "We will continue to expand various humanities-based programs to develop Goryeong County into a leading lifelong learning city."
Based on the achievements of this program, Goryeong County plans to further strengthen its humanities education foundation and continuously expand a resident-centered lifelong learning environment.
