Machon 4 District to Be Transformed into a Large-Scale Complex with 1,254 Households Embracing Namhansanseong Fortress

The Machon 4 District near Machon Station on Subway Line 5 will be reborn as a large-scale complex with 1,254 households, nestled alongside Namhansanseong Fortress.

On August 8, Seoul City announced that it had held an Integrated Review Committee for Urban Renewal Projects and approved the integrated review for architecture, landscape, and transportation regarding the "Machon 4 District Housing Redevelopment Project (Amended) in the Goye·Machon Urban Renewal Promotion District."

The Machon 4 District housing redevelopment project will create a large-scale complex of 1,254 households across 10 buildings, ranging from four basement levels to 33 above-ground floors, in the Machon 4 District area. Neighborhood living facilities and ancillary welfare facilities will also be constructed, with groundbreaking scheduled for 2026.

The site is expected to offer excellent public transportation convenience as it is adjacent to the planned Wirye Line tram (provisional name) Station 101 and Machon Station on Subway Line 5. In addition, it will feature commercial areas in North Wirye, natural green spaces extending from Namhansanseong Fortress, and a 50-meter-wide green belt at the front, promising a pleasant residential environment.

The exterior design of the complex will take inspiration from the clouds over the peak of Cheongnyangsan Mountain, where Namhansanseong Fortress is located, and will incorporate the "Urban Cloud" design, reminiscent of flowing valley water and waterfalls. The cloud motif will be expressed using aluminum panel materials. The landscaping will create a picturesque scenery, allowing residents to enjoy views of Namhansanseong Fortress from indoors.

The apartment complex will feature a variety of specialized unit designs, including 147 panoramic-view units with two-way views from the living room, 101 separated-unit types, and eight duplex penthouses.

Choi Jinseok of Seoul City stated, "As this site is the fastest-moving project area in the Goye·Machon Urban Renewal Promotion District, it will serve as a catalyst for the development of other districts as well."
