Content Wave, the operator of the online video service (OTT) Wavve, announced on August 7 that it held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and a board of directors meeting, during which Jangho Seo, Head of Content Distribution Business at CJ ENM, was appointed as the new CEO.
The newly appointed CEO, Seo, has held various positions related to the content business, including Head of Content Distribution Business and Head of Overseas Content Business at CJ ENM. He is currently serving as Head of Content Distribution Business. His term will last for three years.
Seo has led the Content Distribution Business Division at CJ ENM for an extended period, spearheading global distribution strategies for K-content. Based on his understanding of the K-content industry structure and the global content market, he is expected to enhance business synergies between TVING and Wavve, while also strengthening both companies' competitiveness by leveraging their intellectual property (IP).
Previously, in June, the Korea Fair Trade Commission approved a business combination between CJ ENM·TVING and Wavve through a system of concurrent executive appointments. Since then, Wavve and TVING have launched a "Double Pass" that allows access to both platforms and have begun cooperating by supplying some CJ ENM content to Wavve.
With this executive appointment, Wavve plans to accelerate the creation of synergies with TVING in earnest.
Seo stated, "Through efficient distribution strategies and investments, I will work to secure diversity in content IP and do my utmost to build a K-content platform with global competitiveness by introducing innovative initiatives and differentiated services."
