Superintendent Eunhee Kang of Daegu Urges "Hire More Vocational High School Students" at Network CEO Meeting

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Eunhee Kang) held a "Local Company Network CEO Meeting" at 10:00 a.m. on August 7, 2025, to promote employment opportunities for students at vocational high schools through partnerships with local companies.


The event, which brings together local company CEOs, the Superintendent, officials from the Office of Education, representatives of leading local companies, and principals of vocational high schools, has been held since 2023. Its purpose is to exchange ideas to boost high school graduate recruitment, explore directions for the advancement of vocational education, and strengthen an organic cooperative system between educational sites and companies for nurturing future technology talent.

This was the second such meeting held this year, following the first session in April with representatives from four companies in the Dalseong 1st Industrial Complex. For this session, Superintendent Eunhee Kang, principals of Daegu Technical High School and Yeungnam Technical High School, and officials from the Office of Education visited the Daegu plant of Nikka Korea Co., Ltd., located in the Seongseo Industrial Complex Management Corporation. There, they met with representatives and executives from four companies?Nikka Korea Co., Ltd., Kumho Cast Co., Ltd., Youngpoong Agricultural Corporation Co., Ltd., and Woojin Hi-Tech Co., Ltd.?as well as the chairman of the management corporation.


The Superintendent and other Office of Education officials toured the production facility of Nikka Korea Co., Ltd., a Japanese-invested company that consistently hires vocational high school students each year and serves as a site for field learning experiences. They emphasized the importance of ensuring safe practical training at industrial sites. The meeting also included discussions with company representatives on tailored industry-academia cooperation strategies, growth plans for vocational high school graduates currently employed at these companies, and ways to promote regional development through increased employment of high school graduates.


Superintendent Eunhee Kang stated, "I would like to express my gratitude to the company representatives and staff for their efforts in helping our students grow into highly skilled technicians. I ask for your continued active cooperation in recruitment and on-site training so that our children can settle in the region and develop as technical talent."


Meanwhile, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education is working to create an environment where outstanding local talent can grow within the region by building networks with local governments, job-related organizations, companies, and universities. To this end, it is promoting initiatives such as the Vocational Education Innovation District Support Project, industry-academia integrated apprenticeship schools, customized workforce development projects for small and medium-sized enterprises, and specialized high school partnership programs.
