Significant Damage from Heavy Rainfall Between July 16 and 20
16 Cities, Counties, and Districts and 20 Towns, Townships, and Neighborhoods Nationwide Affected
President Lee Jaemyung has designated 36 additional areas as special disaster zones following the heavy rainfall in mid-July that caused significant damage.
On August 6, presidential spokesperson Kang Yujeong announced in a written briefing, "At around 6 p.m., President Lee designated 36 areas?including 16 cities, counties, and districts, as well as 20 towns, townships, and neighborhoods nationwide?that suffered major damage from the heavy rainfall between July 16 and July 20, as special disaster zones."
The designated areas include Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province; Cheonan, Gongju, Asan, Dangjin, Buyeo, Cheongyang, and Hongseong in South Chungcheong Province; Cheongdo in North Gyeongsang Province; Jinju, Uiryeong, Hadong, and Hamyang in South Gyeongsang Province; Buk-gu in Gwangju; and Naju and Hampyeong in South Jeolla Province.
