The Jindo Fire Station in South Jeolla Province will proactively operate the 'Heat Wave 119 Safety Task Force' until September 30 to respond to the ongoing heat wave.
To ensure a systematic response during heat wave advisories, the Jindo Fire Station has organized practical teams, including the Situation Management Team, Rescue and Emergency Medical Team, Living Support Team, and On-site Safety Management Team. The fire chief will lead the task force and maintain close cooperation among all departments.
A heat wave advisory is issued when the perceived temperature reaches 33°C or higher, and a warning is issued at 35°C or higher. The task force will operate according to a step-by-step emergency work system. Its main duties include emergency treatment and transport of heat-related patients, collection and analysis of heat wave information, patrols for vulnerable groups such as the elderly living alone, water supply support for livestock farms, heat wave prevention campaigns, and safety management for firefighters.
The Jindo Fire Station will especially strengthen daily patrols for residents of old houses and elderly people living alone, and will also provide water spraying support to livestock farms using pump trucks.
Heat wave response supplies such as ice vests, gel packs, and saline glucose will be distributed to emergency teams, and on-site response capabilities will be enhanced through specialized emergency care training. Patrols using drones will be conducted during vulnerable hours (12 p.m. to 3 p.m.), and recovery support vehicles for firefighters will also be operated.
Chief Kim Jaechul emphasized, "This heat wave response is not just a simple reaction, but a proactive measure to protect the lives and safety of county residents. All firefighting personnel will work together to minimize heat wave damage and ensure a safe summer."
