Heatwave Prevention Safety Campaign Held with Safety Monitors
Approximately 35 people, including Changwon City Safety Monitors and public officials, participated in this campaign. The goal was to proactively respond to the ongoing heatwave and abnormal climate conditions. The campaign focused on informing the public about the "Six Key Heatwave Safety Guidelines," which include: checking for heatwave advisories (advisory at 33°C, warning at 35°C) and other extreme weather alerts; refraining from outdoor activities during the hottest hours; minimizing skin exposure when outdoors; resting in cool places during heatwaves; staying well hydrated; and looking out for the safety of family members and neighbors.
In particular, the Safety Monitors handed out leaflets containing these guidelines, as well as heatwave prevention promotional items such as cool patches, directly to citizens. They also provided information on how to report summer hazards using the "Safety Sinmungo" app, focusing on enhancing the effectiveness of accident prevention through citizen participation.
Park Juho, Director of Safety Management, stated, "A heatwave is a natural disaster, and it requires an appropriate response. As the climate crisis intensifies heatwaves, it is important for citizens to familiarize themselves with safety guidelines. I hope this campaign will contribute to protecting lives and spreading a culture of safety among citizens."
