Demonstration Event for 'Drone Demonstration City Development' Held on August 5
On August 5, the Goheung County Office in Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced that it has officially launched a 'drone delivery' service for island residents and tourists.
In March 2025, the county was selected for the '2025 Drone Demonstration City Development Project' organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Over the past seven months, the county has been preparing for the introduction of the drone delivery service by establishing flight routes, building infrastructure, and developing a delivery web platform.

As a result, a demonstration event was held on this day at the drone delivery center established at Nokdong New Port in Doyang-eup, attended by over 100 people including Governor Gong Youngmin, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member Park Sunjun, Goheung County Council members, drone company representatives, and local residents. The county successfully completed the first drone delivery order and delivery of 2025.
More than 20 residents of Sanghwado, who gathered at the village hall, enjoyed a refreshing mulhoe delivered by drone during the demonstration, helping them momentarily forget the heat. The residents expressed their delight, saying, "We are very happy that we will now be able to enjoy delivery food that was difficult to get on the island thanks to drone delivery."
This drone delivery service will be operated until November 2025, focusing on four drone delivery hubs and a total of 12 delivery points, including Sanghwado, Hahwado, Deukryangdo, Geogeum Marine Fishing Park, and Goheungman Waterfront Sunset Park.
Through the drone delivery web platform developed by the county, users can order delivery food, daily necessities, and beverages, and there are also plans to deliver emergency medicines. Island residents will be able to use the delivery service free of charge for about one month after the service launch.

This demonstration event once again confirmed the effectiveness and potential of drone delivery. We will continue to lead the way in creating an innovative logistics model covering islands and coastal areas, and take the initiative in drone industry demonstration and commercialization."
