Collaboration with the National Museum Foundation's "MU:DS"
Theme: "A Time of Contemplation with the Stars"
Starbucks Korea announced on August 5 that it will launch a collection of goods inspired by the "Room of Contemplation," a signature exhibition space at the National Museum of Korea, in collaboration with the National Museum Foundation's "MU:DS" on August 7.
The "Room of Contemplation," which opened in November 2021, is a space where two National Treasure gilt-bronze Pensive Bodhisattva statues from the Three Kingdoms period (National Treasure No. 78 and No. 83) are displayed side by side under lighting reminiscent of starlight. Designed to allow visitors to fully experience the Pensive Bodhisattva statues, the cumulative number of visitors reached 3.41 million as of the end of last month.
Starbucks planned this collaboration with the National Museum Foundation under the theme "A Time of Contemplation with the Stars" to widely promote the beauty of Korean cultural heritage and to allow people to experience the inspiration of these artifacts in their daily lives.
The newly introduced goods consist of a total of seven items, incorporating the shared keyword "star" and the Pensive Bodhisattva statue, which are symbolic of both Starbucks and the Room of Contemplation, to add meaning to the collaboration. A separate gift package has also been prepared to enhance the collectible value.
Among the featured goods is the "Room of Contemplation Bearista Demi Mug 89ml" set, which reinterprets Starbucks' signature character Bearista as a Pensive Bodhisattva in a water globe and demi mug set.
The "Room of Contemplation Figure Plate" also features a Bearista Pensive Bodhisattva figure deep in thought. In addition to serving as a dessert plate, it can be used as an interior accessory to create an atmospheric space when paired with objects such as an incense holder or the "Room of Contemplation Beads Charm," which is made by stringing pearls together.
Other items include the "Room of Contemplation Sion Mug 237ml," which reveals stars when filled with hot water; the "Room of Contemplation Glow-in-the-Dark Glass 300ml," which emits a soft glow in the dark; the "Room of Contemplation Magic Tumbler 473ml," which features sparkling glitter; and the "Room of Contemplation Mini Bag," which expresses stars with pearl beads.
In addition, to commemorate the collaboration with the National Museum Foundation, Starbucks will offer a "Room of Contemplation Fan" on a first-come, first-served basis to customers who purchase over 60,000 won, including Room of Contemplation goods, through the Starbucks online store.
Meanwhile, Starbucks has previously introduced goods in January that reinterpreted "Yi Hancheol - Seoak Surrounded by Plum Blossoms," an artifact housed in the National Museum of Korea, to promote and preserve the beauty of cultural heritage. In addition, Starbucks continues to engage in various activities to promote Korean culture, such as supporting the restoration and preservation of the Korean Legation in the United States, donating to independent cultural heritage, and sponsoring cultural events at royal palaces.
