On August 3 (local time), at Sedgefield Country Club (par 70, 7,131 yards) in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, he claimed victory at the Wyndham Championship, the final event of the regular season on the PGA Tour, with a total purse of $8.2 million. He secured a commanding win, finishing six strokes ahead of second-place finisher Mac Meissner (USA). Until this tournament, Young had played in 93 PGA Tour events and had finished as runner-up seven times, always circling the winner’s circle but never quite reaching it?until now.

Young tasted victory after changing his golf ball. Before the tournament, he put a new ball in his caddie bag, switching to the Titleist Pro V1x prototype specifically for this event. Previously, he had used the Titleist Pro V1 Left Dot. During a visit to the Titleist Performance Center in Manchester Lane, Massachusetts, he conducted extensive practice sessions and selected the ball that suited him best.

He confirmed that his shots were traveling a full club farther. He gained control and confidence in his iron play. He ranked first in strokes gained putting (10.335), second in average driving distance (332.9 yards), tied for 14th in fairway accuracy (69.64%), and tied for 11th in greens in regulation (79.17%). Young said, "After switching balls, my performance definitely improved. I’m looking forward to the next few weeks," with a big smile.
